After getting a majority in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and the consent of President Draupadi Murmu, the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 was approved and it became a law. However, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party president and actor Thalapathy Vijay did not like this law. In such a situation, the actor has decided to challenge this law.
Many petitions have already been filed in the Supreme Court challenging
the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025. It has been claimed in these that this law
discriminates against the Muslim community and violates their fundamental
rights. Meanwhile, now Thalapathy Vijay has also challenged the Waqf
(Amendment) Act 2025. According to ANI, the actor has filed a petition in the
Supreme Court against this Act.
Thalapathy Vijay had already protested
Earlier, according to PTI, Thalapathy Vijay had described the Waqf
(Amendment) Act as 'anti-Muslim' in a statement. He said- 'The bill passed in
the lower house of Parliament has once again put a question mark on the dignity
of the Constitution and the basic principles of secular Indian democracy.'

Thalapathy Vijay had also said- 'TVK demands that the anti-democracy
bill be withdrawn immediately keeping in mind the voice of all democratic
forces. If the BJP-led central government does not do so, then TVK will join
the Muslim brothers in the legal struggle for their Waqf rights.'
These celebrities have approached the court against the Waqf (Amendment) Act
Let us tell you that even before Thalapathy Vijay, many leaders have
approached the court against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. These include AIMIM MP
Asaduddin Owaisi, Congress MPs Mohammad Javed and Imran Pratapgarhi, AAP MLA
Amanatullah Khan and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad and Samajwadi
Party MP Zia ur Rehman Barq.
