The High Court has taken a tough stand on the road
accidents happening every day due to potholes and stray cattle on the roads of
Madhya Pradesh. In this case, the court has sought a reply from the state
government and the concerned officials. Along with this, the court has asked to
file a reply within four weeks.
In fact, Jabalpur advocate Pranjal Tiwari had filed a
PIL in the Jabalpur High Court regarding this matter, in which he expressed
concern over the lack of maintenance of National Highways 43 and 45. Also, the
petitioner had alleged that many accidents have happened due to potholes and
stray cattle on these routes, in which many people also lost their lives.
'File the reply in four weeks'
After hearing this petition, the High Court has taken a
tough stand on the problem of potholes and cattle on the national highways and
has sought a reply from the state government and the concerned officials. A
bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf has
issued notices to the state government, Principal Secretary of Public Works
Department, Managing Director of MPRDC and NHAI in this matter and directed
them to respond within four weeks.
Toll roads are also in bad condition
The special thing is that the roads for which the petition has been filed in the court regarding their bad condition. They are all toll roads, yet no steps are being taken for their maintenance and repair. Many organizations also raised this issue, but the responsible officials did not pay attention. Therefore, now the petitioner has requested the High Court to direct the concerned officials to take immediate action for the maintenance and repair of these roads.
