The Jharkhand Cabinet on Friday approved the proposal
for medical insurance of Rs 5 lakh for the lawyers of the state. This decision
of the state government can benefit about 30,000 lawyers of Jharkhand. The
cabinet has also approved the proposal to increase the pension of advocates
aged 65 years and above from Rs 7,000 to Rs 14,000 per month. These decisions
have been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Gift of Jharkhand government to lawyers
The cabinet has also decided to give an allowance
(stipend) of Rs 5,000 every month to newly enrolled advocates. An official
statement said that a proposal to provide grant-in-aid of Rs 1.5 crore to the
'Jharkhand Advocate Welfare Fund Trustee Committee' to provide an amount of Rs
5,000 for the financial year 2024-25 has been approved.
Various organizations of lawyers appreciated this
decision. Lawyers say that this decision of the state government will give them
a lot of relief. Lawyers are also counted among the guardians of the law. In
such a situation, this decision of the Jharkhand government is commendable.
Lawyers in Jharkhand will get both insurance and
allowance.
The Chief Minister said that this decision will prove to be historic for the welfare of advocates. Soren said in a post on the social media platform 'X', 'For the first time in the country .... the state government will now provide monthly financial assistance to all the new lawyers of the state for five years so that they get the strength to stay in this profession in the initial days.'
