Madhya Pradesh High Court orders Lokayukta Police to
make FIR public on website within 24 hours
The Madhya High Court Jabalpur has ordered the
Lokayukta organization to upload the FIR on the website within 24 hours. If
there is no website, then the state government should issue guidelines to the
concerned authority in compliance with the order passed by the Supreme Court in
the case of Youth Bar Association of India.
The case was heard before the bench of Acting Chief
Justice Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf. Advocate Dhruv Verma presented the
case on behalf of the petitioner Rajendra Singh, a resident of the capital
Bhopal. He argued that the Lokayukta organization had caught Suresh Chandra
Verma, posted as Executive Engineer in PWD, red-handed while taking bribe.
FIR copy not given even
after RTI
The Lokayukta has not submitted a charge sheet against
non-applicant Suresh Chandra Verma. An application was filed under the Right to
Information to obtain a copy of the FIR from the Lokayukta. Even after submitting
application under RTI, copy of FIR was not given. Despite the fact that Supreme
Court, while hearing the petition of Youth Bar Association of India, had issued
direction that copy of FIR should be uploaded on website within 24 hours.
Non-applicant Suresh Chandra Verma has filed a petition in High Court demanding benefit of time scale pay increment as charge sheet was not filed. Also, it has been demanded that directions be issued to Lokayukta to complete investigation in the case at the earliest.Non-applicant Suresh Chandra Verma has filed a petition in High Court demanding benefit of time scale pay increment as charge sheet was not filed.
