'7000 people can't come on foot...?', High Court's strong comment on mob uproar in Kolkata hospital.

18-Aug-2024 || By EDITOR

The Calcutta High Court has made a strong comment on the vandalism that took place at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital on the night of August 14. The High Court has said that this incident is a proof of the complete failure of the state machinery.

The Calcutta High Court said that it would be better if the hospital is closed and the patients are shifted to other hospitals. During this, the West Bengal government's lawyer present in the court said that police force was present there. On this, the bench headed by the Chief Justice said that they could not even protect their own people. This is an unfortunate situation. How will the doctors work fearlessly?

The Chief Justice asked the state government what are you doing after this incident? What steps were taken as a precaution? On this, senior advocate Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya, appearing on behalf of the government, said that instructions for a CBI inquiry were given at 3 pm.

The state government's lawyer said that as far as the steps taken to deal with the vandalism are concerned, a crowd of 7000 people suddenly gathered there, then tear gas was fired, police were injured. In such a chaotic emergency, vandalism took place.

The court said that usually if people enter the hospital, the police have to be present there in case of emergency. If 7000 people enter, it is difficult to believe that there is no failure of the state. If 7000 people had to come, they could not have come on foot. This is a complete failure of the state machinery.

The state government said that we have now taken care of everything. Police said that We are trying to identify and arrest the accused. The court reprimanded and said why all this after the incident? Why did the state not pay attention to this earlier?

Meanwhile, another lawyer, giving information about the entire incident that took place on the night of August 14, said that the goons vandalized. The ruckus continued even after the arrival of the Police Commissioner. The court said with anger that if 7000 people gathered then it is 100% failure of the administration. If 15 people entered then we can understand that there was a lapse in security. On this, the government clarified that we did not say that there were 7000 people.

The court asked the government to file an affidavit. As a citizen of West Bengal, the state government should also be worried. You should also be saddened by this. The state government's lawyer said that we are also sad.

On this, the court said that we have heard you. Record it on record. We have received many messages about vandalism. Why did this incident happen? Why did people enter and vandalize? These things are not understandable. Is this a police failure of law and order? You should understand what pain the common people of the state are going through. Something should happen which will create confidence in the minds of the public and the court.

The court made a harsh comment and said that let's shift every patient to another hospital. Close the hospital, everyone will be safe. Close the hospital, is this the best?

Let us tell you that while considering the case of vandalism in RG Kar Hospital, the High Court told the state government that we have listed the case for hearing only because of the email received after the vandalism in the hospital.

Actually, the High Court made this comment during the hearing on the petition filed regarding the investigation and action on the vandalism in RG Kar Hospital and the attempts to destroy evidence.

Let us tell you that a large number of people entered Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital on the night of August 14. During this time, there was a lot of vandalism in the hospital. These people created a lot of ruckus in the hospital for about an hour.
